A Catch Up

I haven't done one of these posts in quite a while now so I thought I'd update you all! I've finally finished university, after an extremely stressful semester. To celebrate, my friends and I decided to go to GBK for dinner before we all go our separate ways for Summer - I love their burgers! I've also been to see The Avengers: Age of Ultron and watched The Hobbit for the first time. Now that I have a 5 month Summer ahead of me, I'm making more time to read again and to focus on my blog. I also want to take advantage of living near Glasgow and plan lots of day trips. I've already ticked one day off my list - going to see The Kelpies in Falkirk.

An Ikea Wishlist

Clearly I'm still not over the whole white furniture thing - it just looks so clean and simple! Anyway, I've been thinking about updating a few areas of my room - mainly my bookcases and the walls. Instead of having two smaller bookcases I really want to get this Billy one just to take up less space. I'm also going to get the storage boxes and magazine files to help style it! I'm thinking about getting a few of these floating shelves as well, just to make my walls look a bit more interesting! I'm in desperate need of a new desk chair as the one I have is literally falling apart. I also thought about getting a cutlery divider to put in my desk drawer for my stationary - I'm not sure if this is a really smart idea or really stupid!

A Look Back at Cannes Film Festival

(L-R, Top Row) Fan Bingbing in Marchesa, Li Bingbing in Elie Saab, Emma Stone in Christian Dior.
(L-R, Bottom Row) Fan Bingbing in Ralph & Russo, Li Bingbing in Zuhair Murad, Emma Stone in Oscar De La Renta

At last year's Cannes Film Festival, Blake Lively completely stole the show for me. But this year, it was three actresses that stood out. Only a few weeks after Fan Bingbing stunned at the Met Gala wearing Christopher Bu, the Chinese actress looked the part for Spring in a Marchesa gown. I honestly cannot rave enough about this gown. From the subtle pastel shades, to the floral details and the floral headpiece - everything was just perfect! Another one of my best dressed - Li Bingbing - looked the part wearing gowns from two of my favourite designers, Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad. And finally, no best dressed list would be complete without Emma Stone, who always manages to look elegant in any outfit she wears.

What I've Been Reading Lately

When I have free time, there's nothing I love more than reading. I used to do it all the time when I was younger, but with uni work taking over my life for the past few years I haven't read as much as I would like to. But thanks to my 5 month summer holiday, I've made plenty of time - so here's what I've enjoyed reading lately.

The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien
When I was younger, I was a huge Harry Potter fan and had little time for any other book series, but fast forward 10 years and I've finally read The Hobbit. I absolutely loved this book. It's very easy to read and I just flew through it. I loved reading all about Bilbo Baggins, his companions and their adventures together. The best part about reading this was I knew absolutely nothing about it, so every twist and turn was surprising to me. I would definitely recommend it to any Harry Potter/ASOIAF fans as Tolkien manages to build a very detailed and interesting world during The Hobbit and throughout The Lord of The Rings trilogy.

Yes Please by Amy Poehler
After binge watching Parks and Recreation and crying at the last ever episode, I knew I had to read Amy Poehler's book. I had a lot of expectations and it did not disappoint. It was really interesting to read about her early career and how much hard work she put in to get to where she is today. I find Amy so inspirational, particularly due to her views on feminism. This is a must read for any Parks and Rec fan.

Drums Of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon
I started reading the Outlander series last August, and I recently finished Drums Of Autumn which is the fourth book of the series. This series of books is even more daunting than ASOIAF, with 8 books, each with over 1000+ pages. I have to say, this is probably my least favourite so far. It felt more like a series of short stories rather than one flowing plot. Not a lot seemed to happen to further the story, until the last 200 or so pages. However, I do enjoy the series and it's hopefully set up some plot points for further novels.

I also love reading Vogue (even if it's just full of adverts!). I even bought myself a little journal to keep note of what I've read - I found the idea on Instagram and I thought it was quite cute! If you enjoy reading you can keep up with my book recommendations on Goodreads.

Anyway, after I got over my disappointment I managed to pick out my favourite looks from last night's Met Gala. It's one of my favourite events of the year and I'm always so excited to wake up and see all the amazing outfits! I have to say, Zendaya and Emily Ratajkowski completely stole the show for me this year. I also really loved Sophie Turner, Kendall Jenner, Georgia May Jagger, Jennifer Lawrence and Kim Kardashian's looks.
