Inspiration: Street Style (#1)

One of my favourite things to do is look through the street style tag on Tumblr. Not only does it make me want to buy new clothes that I don't need, it also gives me ideas of new ways to wear the clothes I already have. I thought it'd be nice to share some of my favourite looks and hopefully help inspire you as well!

Desk Inspiration

I went to university the other day to complete a presentation but spent half of time looking a pictures of nice offices on Pinterest (I swear it was kind of related to what I was doing!) So I suppose this post is a sort of wishlist of what I want my future office to look like.

When I eventually graduate, get a job and move out (scary thoughts!), I really want my own office. Either working for myself, or just having room my in future flat to blog. I've always wanted a big, long white desk and then have shades of pastel pink and green just to give it a bit of colour.

A girl can dream right?

How I Revise

After years of taking mostly note-based subjects in high school, I like to think that I've become pretty good at revising. I took higher modern studies, admin, business studies, english, RMPS, and advanced higher history. So basically, I've written a lot of notes and essays, and colour coded a lot of mind-maps in the past few years. With a few exams coming up, and my 2nd semester of second year at university starting, I thought it'd be a good idea to share how I personally revise when there's a lot of notes to learn.

Step #1 - Always Write Lists
When I start revising, I like to write a complete list of all the topics. I then break it down further and add in the areas of each topic I need to learn and the type of questions that can come up. This means that as I'm revising I can tick off each section I complete and I can also highlight the most important areas or the topics that are most likely to come up in the exam.

Step #2 - Mind Maps
After writing my lists, I then create a mind map for each topic and split it into different sub-topics. I think this is really useful for when you have to learn quotes or references for topics - everything is in the one place and you can see exactly what you need to learn. I usually fill my mind maps up with quick bullet points from the textbook I'm using to get a general idea of the topic and refresh my memory. I also colour-code the sub-topics so I can clearly see what belongs to each topic.

Step #3 - Practice Answers
After creating my mind maps, I like to find past papers and start writing practice answers for the exam. I usually type these up on my MacBook and later on I copy the answers into my assessment notebook (can you tell I'm super organised yet?) to help me learn them better.

Step #4 - Condense and Read
Finally, I then condense the answers into short bullet points for each answer. This helps jog my memory and I can then decide if I want to try and write out the full answer without looking at any notes. Once I've completed this, I then begin to read my notes over and over or get my mum to ask me questions on each topic.

So there you have it - that's how I revise. Hope you find this helpful, the exam period can be a stressful time!

How do you revise?

Bookcase Envy

I'm suffering from some serious bookcase envy right now! I have way too many books and magazines and absolutely nowhere to put them. I already have two smaller bookcases but I've decided to get a tall Billy bookcase from IKEA and keep one of the smaller ones.

Anyway the point in these pictures is that I really want to make sure that everything is displayed nicely, especially because there's going to be quite a lot of shelves - I don't want it looking cluttered! I have a lot of Vogue magazines and coffee table books that I can display, and a collection of Eiffel Tower ornaments that are begging for a home. I also have a lot of university folders but I think I'll get some box files just to make sure it looks tidy and organised.

So there you have it, a post on bookcase envy and my plans for my new bookcase - I can't wait to show you all when I'm finished!

How do you style your bookcases?

(P.S. Does anyone know where I can get plain white box files for university work, that would match the magazine files in the top right picture? I've looked literally everywhere and I can't find any!)

The Topshop Wishlist #1

Pyjamas  Dress • Cardigan
Jacket • Kimono • Shirt

Does anyone else do that thing where you add everything you want to your basket and then cry because you're poor? Me too. It saddens me that I should really only buy one of these items this month, I need them all!

I'm obsessed with these Disney Princess pyjamas - they're too cute! Not that shorts are a suitable option for these freezing temperatures we're having, but who cares? I think the one thing I really want from my wishlist is the grey sleeveless jacket. I think it will look great with ripped skinny jeans and just a plain roll neck when the weather gets a little warmer again!

And of course, no wishlist is complete with something stripy. I've been looking for a plain striped dress for a while now and I think this one fits the bill. They always look so casual but stylish at the same time!

What's on your Topshop wishlist?

P.S. Is it just me that think the model wearing the pyjamas looks a lot like T-Swizzle (aka Taylor Swift)?
P.P.S. How annoying that the background for the sleeveless jacket is not the same colour as the others? *insert anguished emoji here*

2015 Goals

I'm not one to do New Year resolutions but I do like to set a few goals for myself for throughout the year. I like to think of them as a to-do list, something which I write a lot of!
  1. Get a job
  2. Start saving more money
  3. Read more
  4. Pass my university exams
  5. Bake more
  6. Try more new foods
  7. Focus on my blog
  8. Organise my photo albums (and take more pictures!)
Not anything life changing but a few things to think about throughout the year. What are your 2015 goals?
