Top TV Shows - Part 1

Something you may not know about me is that I'm obsessed with TV shows. There's nothing better than sitting down to start a new show, and then accidentally watching 10 episodes in a row (this has happened to me multiple times). Some would call it sad, but honestly I think it's impressive that I managed to watch all six seasons of LOST in under a month. Anyway, I thought I'd take you though my top TV shows (excluding comedy and reality).

Agents of Shield
This is my new favourite show. I love Marvel films (I'm obsessed with Captain America) and I was so excited when Agents of Shield was announced, especially because Phil Coulson was going to be the lead character. It's a little slow at the start but after the tenth episode everything starts to come together and leads into two brilliant last episodes.

Bates Motel
So this is supposed be a quite serious horror/thriller show, but I genuinely can't take it seriously. Maybe it's because I can only think of Norman Bates as Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Or maybe because they've made Norma Bates ridiculously crazy and over the top. Who knows? Anyway, I really like this show - I think it's really interesting and can be quite funny due to the over top nature of it.

Broadchurch
This show is absolutely amazing. I literally could talk about it all day. But instead all I'm going to say is David Tennant is ridiculously good in it and you should all go watch it if you haven't already.

Charmed
A show about three sisters that are also witches? I'm pretty sure that's all that appealed to me when I started watching this when I was six years old. I remember watching it every day after school for two hours for about 5 years. I also remember crying when it finished - I'm still hoping for a reunion.

Desperate Housewives
I think this is the first show that I watched from when it started to when it finished - although I probably shouldn't have been watching it at nine years old... This is one of those shows that there a character everyone can relate to whether you're a shopaholic like Gabby, a hopeless romantic like Susan, a clean freak like Bree or a stressed out mum like Lynette. Every season brings a new mystery, and usually a new creepy character that's hiding a huge secret.

Doctor Who
When I say Doctor Who is one of my top TV shows, please note that I mean only series 1-4. It all goes downhill after that. I just love Doctor Who and I'm still not over Rose leaving. If you ignore everything after David Tennant's last episode, it's a brilliant show.

Red Carpet Style: Blake Lively in Cannes

Gucci Premiere, Giambattista Valli Couture, Chanel Couture and Gucci Premiere.

Is anyone absolutely obsessed with Blake Lively after her appearance at Cannes Film Festival? I've loved her since Gossip Girl but I can't say I noticed just how well dressed she was until the Met Gala this year. And Blake and Ryan Reynolds just make the cutest couple ever. Every single one of her outfits were just so perfect. I'm seriously impressed.

Did you love Blake's Cannes style as much as I did?

The Best of: Cannes Film Festival 2014 - amfAR Cinema Against AIDs Gala

Jessica Chastain, Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss and Rosie Huntington Whiteley.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Ana Beatriz Barros wearing Bulgari, taking part in the night's catwalk show.

The annual amfAR Gala is one of the highlights of the Cannes Film Festival calendar.

Sharon Stone was the auctioneer for the evening, with prizes including a trip into space with Leonardo DiCaprio, a pair of Karl Lagerfeld's gloves, a Damien Hirst sculpture and an Andy Warhol portrait of Marilyn Monroe.

40 of the the world's most famous models, including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jourdan Dunn and Lara Stone, also took part in a fashion show. They wore a collection of dresses which were auctioned off  together for 3.5 million Euros.

My top four outfits were Jessica Chastian in Givenchy Haute Couture, Jourdan Dunn in Balmain, Karlie Kloss in Chanel Couture and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Emilio Pucci.

Who was your best dressed?

Fashion Sketches: Blake Lively and Katy Perry

Frida Giannini's sketch for the bespoke Gucci Premiere dress she create for Blake Lively to wear on the red carpet at the Met Ball 2014.
Valentino reveals the sketch of the bespoke stage costume designed for Katy Perry's Prismatic world tour.

I found these sketches on Vogue earlier this week and I thought they were really interesting. I always love to see sketches of outfits compared to the real thing! I actually think the Valentino sketch is better than the actual stage costume, but that might be due to the angle of the picture - who knows?!

Phoebe X Illustrated

Unless you’ve been living under a rock over the past few years, you’ve probably heard of E4’s popular reality TV show ‘Made In Chelsea’, and by extenstion, you’ve probably heard of Phoebe Lettice-Thompson as well.

She entertained us all on Made In Chelsea, and whether you loved her or hated her, her blazing rows with other female cast members (most notably Lucy Watson) left us all wanting more.

Known for her individual style, the blogger, photographer and fashion assistant for Tatler magazine recently left the show to pursue her career and is now collaborating with quirky fashion brand Illustrated People.

The collaboration is really something different and unique, and not at all what you would expect of someone who’s used to hanging out in SW3. With fun prints and masculine silhouettes, the collection is inspired by Tokyo street style. The bright pink shades also takes inspiration from the creativity and ‘Kawaii’ (meaning cute) playfulness of Harajuku girls.

Phoebe herself spoke about her inspiration for the unusual collection: “…the shapes in this collection came from a problem I was encountering last summer. I loved wearing baggy basketball hip-hop style shorts but it was impossible to find them in anything other than just plain colours. I needed an entire outfit in matching crazy prints – so this is what I did with Illustrated People. I enjoy the contrast of girly pastel prints with masculine shapes.”

With constant teasers on Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr, the collection is getting a lot of hype and promises to be something special. Phoebe just recently posted sneak peaks from the campaign shoot, featuring pastel and jewelled Kawaii nails. It’s just the breath of fresh air the fashion industry needs.

Phoebe X Illustrated launches on 26th May at Illustrated People and Topshop and at prices as low as £35, you won’t want to miss out!
